Cabinets of Curiosities were fashionable in the 19th century, as windows into the natural wonders of the world. It was a curated showcase of things outside normal life, on artistic display in people's homes. They were collections to inspire awe, transport the viewer to far off lands, and spark curiosity (and often wanderlust).
